This 28 foot, cylindrical, white tower with black lantern rests just off the tip of Little Deer Isle in a part of Penobscot Bay referred to as Eggemoggin Reach, which separates the island from the mainland at this point. Built in 1854 along with an attached 1.5 story, colonial-cape style keeper's quarters, this site also hosts a brick oil house (1906) and a boathouse. Public use of this site, along with the Winter Harbor lighthouse, was discontinued in 1934 and was sold to a private party. An automated dry ledge beacon was installed nearby to take over light duties. This site remains under private ownership and is closed to the public.
